CHORAL DIRECTION / ADJUDICATION
If you couldn’t already tell, my big love in life is vocal harmony and working with voices to create magical moments. With over a decade of teaching/directing choirs under my belt, I love working with choirs and vocal ensembles of all sizes, and have a strong focus on striving for musical and vocal excellence, while creating a safe and nurturing rehearsal room. Recently I was commissioned to compose and music direct BEACON by Everybody NOW! for BLEACH Festival, a multidisciplinary project that saw 200+ singers from all over Southeast Queensland come together as one to sing amongst a brilliantly bold large-scale installation by powerhouse artist Morag Myerscough (UK), with words / lyrics penned by the divine author Holly Ringland. The most colourful and magical massed choir there ever was!
2027 will see me launch my brand new choral project Hark! - a vibrant contemporary choir full of big harmonies and big hearts here in Brisbane, and I’m currently a lecturer at JMC Academy here in Brisbane in the Musical Theatre department as well as creative director of the vocal ensembles program at Sister2Sister School of Singing (Sydney).
From 2023 to 2025, I directed the Little Red Choir, who performed at multiple events for Brisbane Fashion Festival, MELT Festival, Local Government Association of Queensland, and Tourism Queensland’s launch on Sunrise, as well as directing the choir and vocalists for the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols, Brisbane’s premier Christmas event held at the iconic Riverstage and broadcast nationally on Channel 9.
In education settings, I directed the Queensland University of Technology’s choir QUT Vox Pop from 2016 - 2022, performing at a multitude of events including performances at QPAC, Brisbane City Hall, Queensland Museum, QUT Gardens Theatre, Queensland Music Festival and more. I also worked as Choral Director at Centenary State High School from 2013 - 2021, conducting three different sized ensembles each week, bringing performances full of heart and soul both through the community, various Education Queensland events, and as national finalists at AUSACA (Australian A Cappella Awards) in 2013, 2017 and 2019.
As a teaching artist I’ve had the opportunity to work with countless choral/vocal ensembles including primary school, secondary school, university, professional and community groups across Queensland and Australia. In 2026 I adjudicated at the inaugural Sing! Sing! Sing! choral competition for state schools by Indooroopilly State High School, and was appointed adjudicator for the 2023 Queensland Department of Education’s Choral Fanfare, a state-wide festival celebrating choral singing throughout all state schools. I sang in this very competition myself from 2003 all the way through to 2011, so it was super special to be able to return in a new role after all of those years! I loved being able to listen to different ensembles throughout the Greater Brisbane region, and help to guide the young students into exploring exciting choral techniques.
